The Indian Air Force Sarang Helicopter Display Team concluded its deployment in Egypt on September 15, 2026, after performing precision aerial routines at the El Alamein International Airshow. Flying the indigenous ALH Dhruv, the squadron highlighted Indian aviation excellence and strengthened bilateral defense ties.

CAIRO — The Indian Air Force (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team officially concluded its deployment in Egypt on Monday, September 15, 2026, following a series of high-precision aerial exhibitions. Operating out of El Alamein International Airport on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, the contingent participated in the second edition of the El Alamein International Air and Space Exhibition, showcasing indigenous aviation technology and advanced tactical maneuverability to international audiences.

The deployment served as a prominent platform for military diplomacy, underscoring expanding defense ties between New Delhi and Cairo. Prior to the formal airshow schedule, the squadron captured global attention by executing a formation flight over the Giza Plateau, juxtaposing contemporary Indian rotorcraft engineering against Egypt's ancient architectural landmarks.

Precision Formations and Operational Highlights

As the world's only active five-helicopter display team, the Sarang unit performed rigorous routines using the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv. The flight sequences featured synchronized maneuvers, close-proximity formations, and dynamic crossing loops designed to highlight the technical reliability and structural agility of domestic aerospace platforms.

During the deployment, senior military leadership visited the contingent to review operations and interact with participating air personnel. Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Maintenance Command, traveled to Egypt to inspect the squadron's deployment framework, interacting directly with the air warriors and facilitating official memento exchanges to mark the cross-border engagement.
