CBSE has announced that practical exams, projects, and internal assessments for Classes 10 and 12 in winter-bound schools will be held from November 6 to December 6, 2025. Other schools will conduct these assessments from January 1, 2026. Theory exams start on February 17, 2026.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the schedule for practical examinations, project assessments, and internal evaluations for Classes 10 and 12 in schools located in winter-bound regions for the academic session 2025–26. The notification comes as part of measures to ensure timely completion of crucial assessments ahead of theory exams and seasonal school closures.

Schedule for Winter-Bound Schools: Practical exams, project work, and internal assessments for winter-bound schools will be conducted from November 6 to December 6, 2025. These schools observe closures in January due to harsh winter conditions, necessitating an advanced exam schedule.

Non-Winter-Bound Schools: Schools outside the winter-bound zones, including those across the rest of India and abroad, will follow a regular schedule with practical exams starting on January 1, 2026.

Board Exams Timeline: The theory examinations for Classes 10 and 12 are slated to commence from February 17, 2026, running from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Date sheets with detailed subject-wise schedules will be released soon.

Operational Guidelines: CBSE has issued a comprehensive circular including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for schools to ensure smooth conduct of practical exams. This includes appointing external examiners, ensuring timely submission of answer sheets, and preventing unfair practices.

Candidate Eligibility: Schools must compile and finalize the list of candidates and ensure only those listed appear for practicals, internal assessments, and project evaluations.

Internal Assessments: Class 10 internal assessments will be conducted once with the marks uploaded by schools as per the schedule to avoid any discrepancies.

External Examiner Coordination: Schools need to coordinate with their regional CBSE offices for nomination and deployment of external examiners and observers.

Timely Completion: The board has emphasized the importance of completing practical examinations and assessments within the stipulated period to maintain academic integrity and avoid delays in result processing.

Importance for Students and Schools: Early scheduling in winter-bound regions helps mitigate risks from weather-related disruptions and helps students complete their assessments without stress.

Communication and Updates: Students, parents, and educators are advised to regularly check the official CBSE website for any updates, circulars, or changes in schedules.

The board's meticulous planning and clear instructions aim to streamline the examination process across diverse climatic zones, ensuring fair and timely assessments for millions of students.
