From Old Feuds to New Beginnings: Sunny Deol’s Surprising Visit to Yash Raj Films Studios

In a development that’s grabbed the attention of the Bollywood world, actor Sunny Deol made a highly unexpected visit to Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios after three decades on August 18, 2025. What’s truly surprising is the reason behind this return—not a film deal, but a creative meeting with composer Mithoon for Sunny’s upcoming project Gabru. This landmark event marks a thaw in one of Bollywood’s most famous feuds, born out of the fallout from the 1993 film Darr.

Key Highlights from the News

Sunny Deol returned to YRF Studios after 30 long years—a place he last visited in the early 1990s.
The visit was not for patching up or signing a new film but to meet music composer Mithoon, who was busy recording with an 80-member choir at YRF for Border 2.
Sunny demonstrated humility by coming to the studio himself when Mithoon’s schedule couldn’t accommodate a meeting elsewhere.

Background: Why the Feud?

In 1993, Sunny Deol starred with Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla in YRF’s Darr.
Deol’s disappointment with the film stemmed from feeling overshadowed by Shah Rukh Khan’s character—a negative role that stole the spotlight, leading to a falling out between Deol and Yash Chopra.
This rift kept Sunny away from YRF projects for three decades; both sides avoided collaboration despite the studio’s continued prominence.

Details of the 2025 Meeting

Composer Mithoon is working on the music for both Border 2 and Gabru.
Mithoon was tied up in a demanding recording session for Border 2 at YRF Studios, so the scheduled meeting at Sunny Deol’s Sunny Super Sound studio was shifted.
Sunny Deol’s visit to YRF Studios became a necessity, leading to a nearly three-hour brainstorming session focused on the musical vision for Gabru.
The synergy between Sunny and Mithoon is highly promising; their successful partnership in Gadar 2 has set high expectations for upcoming projects.

Sunny Deol’s Current Slate

Earlier in 2025, Sunny starred in the film Jaat, an action drama that earned over ₹100 crore at the box office.
Border 2 is his next ambitious project, set to release on January 22, 2026, and also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
In addition, Sunny will be seen playing Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, a star-studded mythological film featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash.

Industry Response and Broader Implications

Sunny Deol’s visit has sparked widespread discussion in the industry, with many wondering if this signals an end to the long-standing cold war between him and YRF.

Some insiders suggest this is a purely professional move focused on artistic collaboration rather than reconciliation.

The event also highlights the changing nature of Bollywood relationships—past feuds, no matter how intense, can give way to fresh beginnings when creative ambition takes priority.
