Rinku Singh, the dynamic Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter, recently shared a heartwarming incident that unfolded right after he missed selection for India’s main team during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The story revolves around Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who personally stepped in to offer encouragement by taking Rinku on a chartered flight—a gesture that deeply motivated the young cricketer during a challenging phase.

Key Highlights: A Flight of Encouragement

After the main squad had departed for the World Cup, Rinku, who was named in the standby list, had to travel separately to Mumbai for visa formalities.

Shah Rukh Khan, informed by his team, asked Rinku to accompany him on his chartered flight rather than travel alone.

Initially shy and nervous, uncertain about how to converse with the superstar, Rinku tried to decline but ultimately accepted Shah Rukh’s insistence.

During the flight and preceding car ride, Shah Rukh offered words of wisdom, assuring Rinku that he was known and recognized by fans just as much as himself, bolstering the player’s confidence.

Rinku’s Reflection on the Memorable Experience

Rinku described those two hours on the chartered flight as “incredible” and “amazing,” marking his first-ever experience on such a plane.

He admired Shah Rukh’s humility and warmth, noting the superstar’s genuine care for everyone regardless of their status.

The encouragement came at a time when Rinku’s form had dipped, making the motivation all the more impactful.

Rinku’s Journey and Growth

Rinku had burst into the IPL spotlight after smashing five consecutive sixes in a memorable 2023 season and finishing with 474 runs at an impressive average and strike rate.

Retained by KKR for a whopping ₹13 crore in the 2025 IPL auction, he has steadily advanced to become a crucial player.

His recent selection for India’s Asia Cup squad further cements his rising stature in international cricket.

The Unique Bond Between Player and Owner

This story exemplifies the rare and supportive relationship Shah Rukh Khan maintains with his players, emphasizing encouragement, personal attention, and humility.

The actor-owner’s involvement is credited with enhancing team morale and inspiring players during both highs and lows.

Shah Rukh’s hands-on approach goes beyond business, building camaraderie and trust that reflect in players’ performances.

Conclusion

Rinku Singh’s candid recounting of traveling with Shah Rukh Khan after a team snub shines a light on how mentorship and kindness behind the scenes fuel sporting successes. It’s a reminder of the human connections that uplift athletes beyond the field, inspiring resilience and fueling dreams amid challenges.
