Key Highlights for Indian Buyers

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is slated for an official India launch in mid to late January 2026, based on Samsung’s traditional global schedule and ongoing industry buzz

Price leaks indicate a premium tag: expect the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model to start between ₹1,29,999 and ₹1,59,990, with high-capacity variants inching higher

Major upgrades are anticipated across the camera setup, processor, battery, software, design, and AI-focused features

Estimated Release Date and Price in India

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is drawing attention for a likely release window between January 14 and January 25, 2026, continuing Samsung’s annual refresh cycle. Most sources peg the Indian starting price at ₹1,59,990 for the base variant, but some platforms suggest it could debut nearer ₹1,29,999, with higher storage variations (up to 1TB) priced at a premium. Color choices are tipped to include Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, Titanium Yellow, and more.

Design and Display Innovations

The S26 Ultra looks set to feature a reimagined design, including a cleaner rear panel with a more minimal aesthetic and a unified camera island

An enlarged 6.9-inch or 6.89-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display is expected, with a super-smooth 120Hz to 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness around 3,000 nits, ideal for outdoor usage and gaming

The display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus and equipped with an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for seamless unlock

Camera: Imaging Gets Smarter and Sharper

Samsung is rumored to drop its ISOCELL sensor in favor of a new 200MP Sony sensor for the primary camera, aiming for greater clarity and superior low-light performance

Supporting cameras may include a 50MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor (possibly with 5x optical zoom), and a secondary 12MP to 16MP telephoto shooter

The selfie experience will be handled by a 12MP under-display camera

Features like 8K video, advanced AI stabilization, and pro photography tools are all expected, making it a strong contender for content creators

Performance: Next-Level Speed and Intelligence

Under the hood, the S26 Ultra will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, built on a 3nm process; depending on the region, some models may use the Exynos 2600 chipset

RAM options may include 12GB and 16GB, with storage variants stretching from 256GB through 1TB (UFS 4.0 for ultra-fast read/write speeds)

Enhanced AI capabilities and Galaxy-exclusive processor optimization are rumored to deliver heavy multitasking, on-device generative AI, and smarter battery usage

Battery and Charging

Battery capacity is pegged between 5,000mAh and 5,500mAh, with improved silicon-carbon battery chemistry for longer lifespans and reliability

Wired charging will support up to 45W (in some leaks, up to 65W), with 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging

Thermal management gets a boost with a larger vapor chamber for better heat dissipation during gaming or long shooting sessions

Software, Connectivity, and More

Out of the box, the phone will run One UI 8 based on Android 16

Connectivity features will include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, tri-band 5G, and USB-C 3.2

Samsung is likely to promise seven years of software updates and security patches, pushing the flagship closer to its biggest rival in longevity

Other expected features: IP68 water/dust resistance, S Pen integration, stereo speakers, and advanced haptics

Early Take and Availability

The Galaxy S26 Ultra positions itself as an ultimate flagship, combining cutting-edge hardware, bold design, and leading AI. Its ultra-premium price and feature set are geared at power users, professionals, and photographers, solidifying Samsung’s hold atop the Android ecosystem. Indian buyers can expect aggressive pre-order offers and bundle deals to sweeten the high initial price.
