A pioneering Chennai-based startup, Tamilan - The Drone Pvt Ltd, has developed the world's fastest assembling cargo and defence drone. Assembled in just six minutes from three main components, this versatile drone can carry 10 kg payloads over 30 km and operates up to 60 minutes, designed for emergency aid, defence, and agricultural applications.

Tamilan - The Drone Pvt Ltd, based in Chennai, has introduced a revolutionary drone that sets new benchmarks in rapid assembly and operational versatility. Unveiled at AeroDefCon 2025, this cargo and defence drone requires only six minutes for assembly, a record-breaking feat supported by a simplified design comprising just three major components: a top shell, bottom shell, and landing gear. This contrasts sharply with standard drones featuring 30 to 40 parts, enhancing scalability and deployment speed.

The drone employs injection moulding technology to enable rapid production and scalability, with its design validated by IIT Madras experts. It carries payloads up to 10 kg, flies nearly 60 minutes, and covers distances up to 30 km per trip. A thermally insulated cargo pod allows safe transportation of critical supplies such as blood, medicines, and emergency aid for up to three hours.

Key highlights:

World’s fastest assembling drone, with assembly time of only six minutes.

Simplified design with just three main components, reducing maintenance and production complexity.

Payload capacity of 10 kg and flight endurance of nearly one hour, covering 30 km per sortie.

Thermally insulated cargo pod for safe transport of sensitive medical and emergency supplies.

Multipurpose use cases including disaster relief, search-and-rescue during natural calamities, border surveillance, defence operations, and agriculture.

Adaptability for agriculture via modifications like water tanks and landing gear adjustments.

Pricing ranges from Rs 8-10 lakh for agricultural drones to Rs 50-60 lakh for defence-grade models with advanced avionics and anti-hacking security.

Active discussions underway with DRDO for strategic defence collaborations.

Plans for international expansion with existing distributors in Taiwan and Poland; market entry targeted for 2026.

Tamilan's innovation epitomizes India's growing leadership in drone technology, marrying rapid deployment capability with versatile applications in emergency response, defence, and agri-tech. This drone is poised to play a vital role in India’s strategic and technological advancement on both domestic and global stages.
