Marking a decade of local support, Google’s latest cohort focuses on agentic and physical AI to solve high-stakes challenges.

NEW DELHI — Google announced on July 8, 2026, the selection of 20 AI-first startups for the 2026 cohort of its "Google for Startups Accelerator: India" program. Chosen from a competitive pool of nearly 2,500 applicants, these companies represent a strategic shift in India’s innovation landscape, moving from traditional language-model applications toward agentic workflows and physical AI systems designed for global enterprise scale.

The announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of Google’s accelerator initiatives in India. According to the company, this year’s class reflects the technical maturity of the ecosystem, with founders increasingly focusing on solving real-world challenges in sectors such as healthcare, climate technology, finance, manufacturing, and cybersecurity.

A New Frontier in AI Innovation

Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager at Google India, stated that the 2026 cohort stands at the vanguard of a technological transition. "India's startup ecosystem is moving into a new frontier of agentic workflows and physical AI systems engineered to solve high-stakes, real-world challenges," Lobana said.

The accelerator program aims to bridge the gap between foundational development and global deployment. By equipping founders with Google’s full AI technology stack and deep technical mentorship, the initiative seeks to foster "sovereign capabilities" that align with the national objectives of the IndiaAI Mission, aimed at building a resilient and inclusive digital economy.

Supporting the Ecosystem

The selected startups will participate in a three-month program that provides:

Technical Guidance: Support from Google engineers and AI experts on product development.
Access to Resources: Utilization of Google’s advanced AI models, cloud infrastructure, and product credits.
Mentorship: Go-to-market strategies and business development advice to facilitate international expansion.

The cohort features a diverse array of technologies. For instance, Adalat AI is building platforms for legal justice automation, while Aikenist and FlexifyMe are applying AI to radiology and chronic pain management. Climate-focused ventures like Aurassure and Fitsol are leveraging real-time data for sustainability, and companies like Jidoka and Proxgy are integrating AI into manufacturing and IoT-based enterprise operations.

Information regarding the selection was confirmed by Google India's official blog, which detailed the program’s scope and the specific sectors represented by the 20 startups. The announcement also highlights the program's alignment with broader digital growth initiatives in the country.

Why It Matters

This cohort represents a departure from earlier software-only applications, signaling that India is becoming a hub for "deep tech" and physical AI integration. For investors and the broader business community, the accelerator serves as a bellwether for the next generation of enterprise-grade solutions. By focusing on agentic AI—systems that can perform tasks autonomously—these startups are positioned to address complex inefficiencies in sectors that have historically been resistant to digital transformation.
