Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently undertook a significant two-day visit to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he inaugurated, laid foundation stones, and dedicated development projects collectively worth Rs 5,400 crore. These landmark initiatives span diverse sectors including railways, roads, power, housing, urban infrastructure, and green mobility, symbolizing a major push towards infrastructural excellence, regional connectivity, and sustainable development in Gujarat.

Key Highlights Of Rs 5,400 Crore Gujarat Development Works

Railway Projects Worth Rs 1,400 Crore: Doubling of the 65-km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line (Rs 530 crore), gauge conversion of Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road line, and Bechraji-Ranuj line (Rs 860 crore), improving connectivity for passengers and freight.

Flagging off passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati enhances access to religious destinations and boosts local commerce.

Power Sector Boost: Launching power distribution projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore under Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited aimed at reducing outages, minimizing transmission loss, and modernizing networks.

Urban Development: Inauguration of in-situ slum rehabilitation at Ramapir No Tekro under PMAY (Urban), along with foundation stones for road widening on Sardar Patel Ring Road and enhancements in water supply and sewerage management.

Administrative Enhancements: New Stamps and Registration building in Ahmedabad West and a State-Level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar for strengthened digital governance.

Green Mobility Milestones: Launching local production of hybrid battery electrodes and flagging off Suzuki’s first global Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), “e VITARA,” from Hansalpur, Ahmedabad, to be exported to more than 100 countries.

Railway Projects To Strengthen Regional Integration

The railway upgrades will significantly ease travel for daily commuters, tourists, and industries, promoting economic vibrance in north Gujarat. The launch of a car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji enhances industrial logistics, offering more employment and connectivity opportunities.

Road Development To Alleviate Traffic Challenges

The new infrastructure promises to reduce longstanding traffic bottlenecks, improve safety, and enable smoother freight and commuter transit. By expanding arterial routes and building strategic underpasses, the projects are expected to fuel industrial growth and regional trade.

Power Sector Modernization For Reliable Supply

The power distribution projects target reduction of outages and improvements in transformer protection, ensuring stable electricity supply under adverse weather conditions and supporting Gujarat’s industrial and residential needs.

Urban Development And Housing Improvements

The PMAY (Urban) slum redevelopment project will uplift living conditions for underserved families while urban infrastructure upgrades will secure better water and sewage systems. These efforts align with the government’s vision to improve quality of life in rapidly urbanizing regions.

Digital Governance And Administrative Efficiency

The new state-level data center and administrative buildings reflect a commitment to enhanced public service delivery and secure digital management, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a leader in e-governance.

Driving Green Growth With Electric Mobility

Launching the “e VITARA” as a Made-in-India global strategic electric vehicle exemplifies the government’s push for sustainable innovation and energy independence. The local production of hybrid battery components further positions India as a key player in the global green mobility ecosystem.

Prime Minister Modi’s Vision For Gujarat And India

Through these initiatives, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to building world-class infrastructure, promoting self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar Bharat), and driving economic prosperity in Gujarat and across India.
