Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start his Bihar assembly election campaign on October 24 by paying tribute to the late Karpoori Thakur at his birthplace, Karpoori Gram in Samastipur. The move aims to consolidate support among Dalits and extremely backward castes ahead of the two-phase polls in November.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the launch of his campaign for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, strategically beginning at a symbolic location—Karpoori Gram in Samastipur district—on October 24. This village is famously known as the birthplace of Karpoori Thakur, a revered former Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee, whose legacy holds significant sway among Bihar’s Dalit and backward caste communities.

Before addressing his first election rally in Karpoori Gram, Modi will pay respects to Karpoori Thakur by garlanding his statue at Smriti Bhavan, located in the leader’s ancestral home village. This tribute not only aims to honor the socialist icon but also to politically connect the NDA’s campaign to Thakur’s enduring legacy of social justice and welfare for marginalized communities.

On the same day, Modi will hold a second rally in Begusarai, marking his fourth public meeting in this politically important district, where he has previously launched major development projects worth over Rs 1.62 lakh crore. The rallies on October 24 mark the beginning of an intensive campaign strategy, with Modi scheduled to make additional visits for election rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chapra on October 30 and several more rallies on November 2, 3, 6, and 7.

The Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phases, with the first phase covering 121 seats on November 6 and the remaining 122 seats going to polls on November 11. By kicking off from Karpoori Gram, Modi aims to resonate deeply with voters from extremely backward classes, reinforcing the NDA’s narrative as the rightful inheritor of Karpoori Thakur’s social justice ideals.
