KBC’s Sweetest Exit: Kashish Wins ₹50 Lakh, Loses ₹1 Crore, Gains a Nation’s Love

In a gripping episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17, 21-year-old Kashish Singhal from Delhi captured hearts across the nation—not with a jackpot win, but with her poise, intellect, and emotional story. As she reached the ₹1-crore question, the tension in the studio was palpable. With only one lifeline left and uncertainty looming, Kashish made the brave decision to walk away, securing ₹50 lakh and earning the admiration of host Amitabh Bachchan and millions of viewers.

The Journey to the Hot Seat

Kashish, a mathematics enthusiast and aspiring defence officer, earned her place on the hot seat after acing the “Fastest Finger First” round. Her journey was not just about quiz mastery—it was a tribute to resilience. Coming from a modest background, Kashish revealed that her father had taken a ₹15 lakh loan during a family crisis. Her goal was clear: win enough to repay the debt and restore dignity to her family.

Throughout the episode, Kashish demonstrated remarkable composure and knowledge, using her lifelines wisely and impressing Big B with her clarity of thought. Her story, interwoven with clips of her father’s struggles and her own tutoring efforts to support the household, left the audience visibly moved.

The ₹1-Crore Question That Stumped Her

After successfully answering the ₹50 lakh question, Kashish faced the ultimate challenge:

“Which king of the Visigoths demanded pepper, which ancient Rome usually traded from India, as ransom to lift a siege on the city?”

The options were: A) Ludovic B) Aymeric C) Alaric D) Theodoric

With only the ‘Sanket Suchak’ (Hint-Giver) lifeline remaining, Kashish used it—but remained unsure. Rather than risk it all, she chose to quit the game, walking away with ₹50 lakh. The correct answer was C) Alaric, a historical figure known for his siege of Rome in 408 AD, where he demanded pepper among other goods as ransom.

A Victory Beyond Money

Though she didn’t become the season’s first crorepati, Kashish’s win was deeply symbolic. Her ₹50 lakh prize will help her family clear their debts and marks a turning point in their lives. Amitabh Bachchan praised her decision, saying, “Where there is knowledge, there is determination. You are the perfect example of the same.”

Her father, who joined via video call, was overcome with emotion. Kashish told him, “Hamare upar jitna bhi karza tha, woh sab utar chuka hai ab.” The moment was a tearful celebration of grit and gratitude.

KBC 17: Bigger Stakes, Bigger Hearts

This season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has introduced new lifelines like ‘Sanket Suchak’ and raised the stakes with a ₹7 crore prize for the 16th question. The show, now in its 25th year, continues to blend knowledge with human stories that resonate deeply.

Kashish’s episode aired just days before India’s Independence Day, adding a layer of patriotic pride to her journey. Her dream of joining the defence forces and her commitment to her family made her a symbol of modern Indian resilience.
