Honor, the well-known global smartphone brand, is set to start local manufacturing of its smartphones in India from November 2025. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets. The initiative is led by PSAV Global, Honor’s official brand partner in India, and is expected to enable competitive pricing, faster launches, and alignment with the government’s Make in India push.

Key Highlights Of Honor’s Manufacturing Launch

Production Start Timeline: PSAV Global plans to commence Complete Knocked Down (CKD) manufacturing operations by November 2025, marking the first locally assembled Honor smartphones in India.
Market Share Target: The company aims to capture approximately 1 percent of the smartphone market share in its first year of manufacturing, translating to around Rs 2,500 crore in revenue.
Model Approvals: After overcoming initial delays from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Honor has received approvals for four smartphone models to be manufactured locally.
Recent Launches And Pipeline: Honor has introduced models like Honor X9c and X7c recently and plans to launch advanced models such as Honor V3 and Honor Magic 7 Pro in close alignment with global timelines.
Licensing Partnership: PSAV Global operates under a licensing agreement with Honor Tech, a Gurugram-based company led by Madhav Sheth, handling manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service for Honor smartphones in India.

Why Manufacturing In India Matters

Local smartphone manufacturing offers multiple advantages, including reducing import dependency, curbing supply chain disruptions, enabling cost efficiencies, and providing faster product rollout capabilities. For Honor, manufacturing domestically means it can price its devices more competitively, critical for gaining traction in India’s intensely competitive smartphone market dominated by brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, and others.

Honor’s manufacturing move also aligns well with India’s government policies encouraging local production and innovation, thus tapping into incentives and augmenting brand goodwill.

Challenges Overcome In The Path To Manufacturing

Honor’s journey into Indian manufacturing faced hurdles such as delayed BIS certifications and internal management changes at the parent company. These factors deferred initial plans launched in 2024. However, with certification approvals secured and production partners identified, Honor is now poised for a strong market comeback backed by localized manufacturing advantages.

Future Prospects And Market Strategy

PSAV Global’s CEO CP Khandelwal has set ambitious goals to increase Honor’s market footprint and revenue substantially within the first year post-local manufacturing inception. By introducing latest Honor devices swiftly and expanding product availability, the company aims to grow steadily and sustainably.

The company is focusing on offering the latest technology, including AI-enhanced features, superior cameras, and high-performance chips to attract tech-savvy Indian consumers. Furthermore, growing online and offline distribution channels and after-sales networks are planned to enhance customer reach.

Honor’s competitive pricing combined with localized supply chain advantages is expected to challenge established players and carve out a niche space in India’s dynamic smartphone sector.

Conclusion

Honor’s decision to manufacture smartphones in India starting November 2025 is a game-changing move that strategically positions the brand to capitalize on local demand, government incentives, and improved supply chain agility. With clear market share ambitions and an expanding portfolio of innovative devices, Honor is set to make a notable impact in India’s vibrant smartphone market. The coming year could mark a strong resurgence for Honor as it blends global expertise with local manufacturing prowess.
