A Delhi based startup has launched an on demand shopping assistant service that lets customers hire helpers at ₹149 per hour to carry bags, stand in billing queues and generally make chaotic market runs less stressful. The pitch is simple: you focus on choosing what to buy, while a trained “market assistant” handles the grunt work.
The service targets busy professionals, elderly shoppers, solo travellers and even influencers or brides to be navigating crowded markets. From Sarojini Nagar and Lajpat Nagar to Chandni Chowk and local malls, the idea blends old school “munshi or helper” culture with app era convenience and transparent hourly pricing.
How The Service Works
Customers can book a shopping assistant for a minimum slot (say 2–3 hours), specifying the market, date and approximate time. Once assigned, the assistant meets the user at the chosen entry point, helps manage multiple bags, holds place in queues, fetches items from other counters and, where required, helps negotiate, navigate lanes and keep an eye on belongings.
In some cases, the startup also offers add ons like helping users hop between metro stations and markets, identifying popular shops in a given budget bracket and ensuring someone is always guarding bags while the customer tries outfits or checks multiple stores. Payment is typically clocked by the hour, with app based billing and ratings for the assistant.
