After a soft and volatile start to the session on Wednesday, India's Nifty 50 index recovered to trade up 0.2%, shaking off initial weakness linked to global uncertainty and FII selling. Domestic institutional support and selective buying in metals and select large-cap names helped the index claw back early losses.
From Soft Start To Gradual Recovery
The Nifty 50 opened lower on Wednesday morning, weighed down by mixed global cues, US-Iran geopolitical tensions and crude oil hovering above $95 per barrel. However, steady buying interest emerged at lower levels, aided by domestic institutional investors and SIP-driven mutual fund inflows that have consistently cushioned declines near key support zones.
Sectors Driving The Bounce
Metals and select auto stocks led the intraday recovery, mirroring a trend seen in recent sessions where broader markets have outperformed frontline indices. The Nifty Midcap100 and Smallcap100 indices also showed resilience, with DIIs stepping in to absorb selling pressure from foreign institutional investors.
Technical Levels And What Lies Ahead
Analysts note that as long as Nifty holds above the 23,850–23,875 support zone, the near-term bias remains positive, with the next key resistance placed at 24,100. A clean breakout above this level could open the door toward 24,300, while a breach of support would expose the index to 23,700–23,600 levels.
