One Birthday, 30 Days of Seva: Delhi’s ‘Sankalp’ for PM Modi

NEW DELHI — The Government of Delhi has officially announced the launch of a comprehensive, month-long public service initiative titled Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Scheduled to run from September 17 to October 17, 2026, the campaign marks the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and honors his 25 continuous years in public service.

Unveiled during a joint media briefing by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, the statewide drive aims to merge civic infrastructure development with grassroots welfare initiatives. The program blankets all 70 assembly constituencies with targeted health camps, cleanliness drives, and citizen-centric outreach platforms.

Infrastructure Overhaul and Yamuna Rejuvenation

At the core of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is the rollout of major development projects valued at approximately ₹13,820 crore. These funds encompass fresh inaugurations and foundation stone laying ceremonies across multiple municipal and state departments, prioritized to upgrade urban amenities across the national capital region.

A major highlight of the infrastructure push is an ₹8,000-crore allocation directed toward the Delhi Jal Board for cleaning and rejuvenating the Yamuna River. Additional departmental outlays include over ₹2,800 crore managed by the Public Works Department (PWD), more than ₹1,500 crore dedicated to power sector enhancements, and ₹265 crore assigned to irrigation and flood control works.

According to official government announcements, administrative disclosures, and policy briefs:

• Total Financial Outlay: ₹13,820 crore allocated for new infrastructure projects and civic upgrades.

• Yamuna Rejuvenation Fund: ₹8,000 crore dedicated to cleaning and water infrastructure modernization.

• Departmental Allocations: PWD works exceeding ₹2,800 crore, Power Department projects over ₹1,500 crore, and Irrigation and Flood Control works worth ₹265 crore.

• Campaign Duration: Active from September 17 to October 17, aligning with Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.

Public Welfare and Community Outreach Programs

Beyond capital works, the month-long initiative prioritizes direct public engagement and health security. Kicking off on September 17, a mega blood donation drive aims to collect 2,500 units in a single day. Concurrently, the Health and Social Welfare departments will host specialized medical check-up camps targeting over 25,000 senior citizens across the city.

The campaign also introduces the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) platform to drive organ donation awareness. Outreach efforts extend to the grassroots through three-day Seva Setu camps across all 70 assembly seats to streamline citizen registration for central and state welfare programs. Educational engagement features the Mere Sapnon Ka Bharat contest, drawing participation from roughly five lakh students across 5,000 institutions.
