In a monumental development for sports entertainment and digital streaming, Paramount, recently merged with Skydance Corporation, has clinched an exclusive seven-year rights agreement with TKO Group Holdings to become the sole broadcaster of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events in the United States starting in 2026. Valued at an unprecedented $7.7 billion, this landmark deal redefines the UFC’s media landscape and signals a transformative shift toward streaming-driven sports consumption.

Key Highlights of the Paramount-UFC Exclusive Rights Deal:

The agreement spans seven years with an average annual value of approximately $1.1 billion, making it one of the largest media rights deals in combat sports history.

Paramount+ will stream the full UFC slate including 13 marquee numbered events and 30 additional Fight Nights annually, providing fans unprecedented access to live mixed martial arts content.

Select marquee UFC events will also be simulcast on CBS, Paramount’s flagship broadcast network, enhancing reach across traditional television audiences.

The deal marks a strategic departure from UFC’s prior pay-per-view model by integrating premium UFC events into Paramount+ at no additional cost to subscribers, enhancing accessibility and fan engagement.

Paramount gains exclusive rights to UFC programming in the US, with intentions to explore international rights opportunities as they become available.

This partnership comes shortly after the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media into Paramount, a Skydance Corporation (Nasdaq: PSKY), showcasing a bold investment to drive growth in its direct-to-consumer streaming segment.

UFC, under TKO Group Holdings, boasts close to 100 million US fans and reaches nearly a billion households worldwide, making it one of the most popular and rapidly growing global sports properties.

The deal includes rights to exclusive content and original programming based on UFC content, enabling Paramount to create innovative fan experiences similar to successful sports documentaries like Netflix’s F1: The Movie.

Detailed Overview and Strategic Impact

A New Streaming Powerhouse for UFC Fans

Paramount's acquisition solidifies its standing as a leading sports broadcaster leveraging its deep portfolio—including Paramount+, CBS, and multiple cable channels—to forge a formidable digital and linear media presence. The move to embed UFC’s premier fight events into a subscription service without additional pay-per-view fees represents a fan-friendly, disruptive model expected to grow UFC’s audience base and subscriber engagement simultaneously.

Enhancing Fan Reach and Content Innovation

The blend of premium streaming on Paramount+ coupled with select broadcast simulcasts on CBS ensures both tech-savvy streaming audiences and traditional broadcast viewers can enjoy UFC events seamlessly. Paramount’s plans to develop original UFC-related content, leveraging the sport’s compelling mix of athleticism and storytelling, paves the way for year-round fan engagement beyond live fights.

Driving Subscriber Growth and Market Leadership

Live sport continues to be a critical driver for streaming service subscriptions, and this deal significantly enhances Paramount+’s content attractiveness. Executives at both Paramount and TKO Group see this partnership as a key business differentiator that will attract new subscribers, increase viewership, and deepen fan loyalty.

Industry and Market Context

The US sports media market remains fiercely competitive and driven by live event rights, but Paramount’s unique advantage lies in combining extensive linear network reach with a rapidly growing over-the-top streaming platform. With UFC growing exponentially in popularity, especially among younger demographics, this deal not only captures a lucrative sports property but aligns with evolving consumption trends.

Summary

The $7.7 billion seven-year exclusive media rights agreement between Paramount and UFC marks a groundbreaking milestone in both sports and streaming industries. Launching in 2026, it signals the dawn of an integrated streaming and broadcast approach that promises enhanced accessibility, innovative content, and sustained growth for UFC, Paramount+, and passionate fight fans across the United States. This strategic partnership underscores Paramount’s commitment to investing boldly in live sports as a key growth vector in a digitally transforming entertainment landscape.
