Popular Vehicles & Services Limited (PVSL), a leading fully integrated automotive dealership player in India, has announced a significant expansion of its commercial vehicle footprint. On August 20, 2025, PVSL’s wholly-owned step-down subsidiary, Prabal Motors Pvt. Ltd., executed a Business Transfer Agreement to acquire the BharatBenz dealership operations from Globe CV Private Limited in Punjab. This strategic move establishes Prabal Motors as the exclusive dealer partner for BharatBenz in Punjab, fundamentally strengthening PVSL's presence in Northern India.

Key Highlights of the Acquisition:

Prabal Motors now operates eight state-of-the-art facilities across key cities in Punjab.
Seven of these facilities are integrated 3S outlets—offering Sales, Service, and Spare Parts—while one is dedicated exclusively to aftermarket spare parts.
The acquisition involved transferring the entire business, including vehicle inventory worth ₹22 crores, assets, and manpower, for a consideration of ₹12 crores.
The eight facilities collectively feature modern showrooms, advanced service workshops with 32 service bays, spare parts distribution centers, and pre-owned vehicle operations housed under one roof.
This expansion strengthens PVSL’s already established presence in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and reinforces its long-standing partnership with the BharatBenz brand.

Strategic Expansion and Market Positioning:

With this acquisition, PVSL significantly enhances its geographic reach within the commercial vehicle (CV) sector, entering the strategically important Punjab market. Punjab's economy, characterized by vibrant freight and passenger transportation demand, represents a high-potential region for CV sales and service. Prabal Motors’ expanded presence in Punjab positions PVSL to capture substantial market share through enhanced sales and superior service offerings.

Details on Facilities and Operations:

Eight strategically located facilities spread across Punjab.
Comprehensive service infrastructure featuring 32 service bays.
Integration of new vehicle sales, after-sales services including warranty repairs, spare parts sales, and pre-owned vehicle operations.
Dedicated workforce and business operations acquired from Globe CV, previously a non-core and gradually growing dealership business for Globe CV, now poised for accelerated growth under PVSL’s management.

Comment from Leadership:

Naveen Philip, Promoter and Managing Director of Popular Vehicles & Services Limited, expressed enthusiasm for the deal, highlighting the acquisition as a pivotal step in PVSL's long-term growth strategy. He emphasized how this move expands the company’s footprint beyond southern and western India, enabling it to establish a pan-India presence in the commercial vehicle retail and service ecosystem. The exclusive partnership with BharatBenz in Punjab is expected to deliver superior customer experiences underpinned by capability building, technology-driven services, and customer-centric solutions.

Broader Business Context:

Popular Vehicles & Services Limited, operating since 1984 under the Kuttukaran Group, has been a pioneer in India's automotive dealership landscape. PVSL manages multiple brands across passenger and commercial vehicles, including Maruti Suzuki, Jaguar Land Rover, Honda, Tata Motors, BharatBenz, Ather Energy, and Piaggio electric vehicles. Its operational network spans over 64 showrooms, 137 sales outlets, 154 authorized service centers, and multiple pre-owned vehicle showrooms across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.

Financial and Workforce Impact:

Globe CV's BharatBenz business, now acquired, had revenues of approximately ₹250 crores and employed 222 people as of FY25.

The transfer of this business unit brings valuable inventory, operational expertise, and manpower under Prabal Motors.

This acquisition marks a critical milestone for PVSL, exemplifying its commitment to scaling its commercial vehicle business across new geographies in India. It also reflects confidence in Punjab’s growing commercial transport sector and reiterates PVSL’s focus on delivering integrated automotive solutions. Prabal Motors’ exclusive dealership status for BharatBenz in Punjab empowers it to cater to evolving customer needs with a comprehensive sales and service portfolio, backed by the strength of a trusted brand and solid operational foundation.
