India’s mythological storytelling has taken an electrifying leap into the digital age, with today’s launch of an artificial intelligence-led adaptation of the Mahabharata, crafted specifically for Gen Z audiences. This innovative project is redefining how the epic is experienced, usin...

A new era dawns for Indian mythology as creators merge ancient narrative depth with AI-powered digital storytelling. Designed for Gen Z’s scrolling, snackable viewing habits, the Mahabharata’s tale of war, wisdom, and intrigue returns not as a lengthy broadcast, but as a series of bite-sized episodes engineered for today’s social platforms.

Key Highlights

India’s first AI-led micro-drama adaptation of Mahabharata, launched today, brings over 600 episodes, each just three to four minutes long.

Developed by Collective Media in collaboration with devotional wellness brand Pujashree, and inspired by similar ventures from EiPi Media, the project marks an industry-first in epic storytelling for Indian screens.

Every episode is generated using advanced artificial intelligence tools, offering a fresh visual style and rapid episode turnaround impossible in traditional formats.

The initiative aims squarely at Gen Z and millennial audiences, who dominate consumption on short-form video platforms.

The micro-dramas mix gripping leads, intense visuals, and contemporary pacing, hoping to reignite interest in India's oldest stories amid modern distractions.

Innovative Storytelling for a New Generation

The creative teams behind this project have set out to resolve a key challenge: making Indian mythology scrollworthy in a world where attention is fleeting.

The episodes feature AI-designed characters and entirely computer-rendered environments.
By using seven separate generative AI platforms, creators blend real-time digital art, animation, and narrative scripting.
The series is not a retelling alone; many speculative episodes reimagine iconic scenes, bringing forth dramatic backstories, nuanced dialogues, and cinematic twists.

With a focus on “snackable myth,” every release is highly shareable, designed to spark discussion and viral engagement among viewers.

Cultural Impact and Industry Shift

Never before has an Indian epic been so thoroughly reengineered for social media culture.

Producers hope this Mahabharata will revive curiosity and pride for Indian mythology in a cohort famously drawn to Western fantasy and anime.
Brands and digital creators anticipate this new format will influence branded content and future mythological adaptations.
Early reaction trailers stunned viewers with hyper-realistic visuals and dystopian reimaginings, proving that AI-powered art can surpass traditional CGI efforts in believability and emotional impact.

Industry Voices

Vijay Subramaniam, Founder & CEO of Collective Artists Network, emphasized that technology lets timeless stories connect and evolve with emerging culture.

Rohit Reddy of EiPi Media has also debuted a viral AI-generated Mahabharata trailer, signaling a new creative wave that could ripple across India’s entertainment and advertising sectors.

What’s Next?

The series kicks off immediately, released on popular video-sharing apps, platforms, and social media channels.

While initial episodes follow the epic’s traditional arc, future installments hint at bold reinterpretations, including futuristic and dystopian versions, meeting Gen Z’s appetite for adventure and innovation.

Live events, interactive experiences, and a possible expansion into the metaverse are already in discussion.

Conclusion

On August 10, 2025, India’s legendary saga entered the realm of AI, promising a renaissance for epic storytelling. By distilling centuries-old wisdom into just a few minutes at a time, the new Mahabharata adaptation looks set to shape not only content trends but also cultural perceptions for years to come.
