The Government of Tamil Nadu signed strategic MoUs via Guidance Tamil Nadu with global corporations to establish new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and advanced manufacturing facilities. The state aims to expand its 350+ GCC ecosystem, driving high-value employment across AI engineering, EV design, and high-tech manufacturing.

CHENNAI, July 30, 2026 — The Government of Tamil Nadu, through its nodal investment promotion agency Guidance Tamil Nadu, signed a series of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading multinational corporations and global capability partners to set up new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and advanced manufacturing facilities across the state. Announced in Chennai by Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce T.R.B. Rajaa, the strategic agreements reinforce Tamil Nadu’s position as a premier industrial and technology hub in South Asia. The state government's dedicated GCC Policy and tailored industrial incentives continue to attract Fortune 500 companies in automotive engineering, semiconductor design, aerospace, and banking technology.

Expanding High-Tech Operations and R&D Capabilities

Under the newly signed agreements, global companies will establish dedicated enterprise GCCs focused on artificial intelligence (AI) engineering, cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and industrial automation. Concurrently, new advanced manufacturing facilities will be developed across industrial corridors near Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hosur to support electronics component production and electric vehicle (EV) supply chains.

The initiative aims to expand the state's existing ecosystem of over 350 GCCs, which currently accounts for roughly 10 to 12 percent of India's total GCC footprint. State authorities confirm that the investments will generate thousands of high-skilled jobs for engineering graduates and tech professionals across urban and tier-2 hubs.

Operational Segment	Focus Areas & Technologies	Key Regional Hubs
Global Capability Centres (GCCs)	AI engineering, cloud transformation, fintech, software-defined vehicles	Chennai, Coimbatore
Advanced Manufacturing	EV components, power semiconductors, aerospace parts, industrial automation	Sriperumbudur, Hosur, Tiruchirappalli
R&D & Engineering	Next-gen mobility design, IoT systems, product development	Chennai Technology Corridor

Policy Incentives and Infrastructure Enablement

The state government's structured push relies on the Tamil Nadu Global Capability Centres Policy, which offers capital subsidies, land allocation assistance, power tariff concessions, and talent linkage programs. State investment arm Guidance Tamil Nadu will act as a single-window facilitator, ensuring fast-track regulatory clearances and site handovers for incoming multinational tenants.

The strategy leverages the state's deep academic network including institutions like IIT Madras and Anna University to ensure a continuous pipeline of specialized STEM talent for global R&D teams. Additionally, plug-and-play office infrastructure and industrial parks built by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) provide ready operational bases for global firms.
