Volvo Car India has officially launched the 2025 XC60 facelift, priced at ₹71.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The refreshed luxury SUV brings subtle design enhancements, upgraded cabin technology, and a host of comfort and safety features, while retaining its proven powertrain. Assembled locally at Volvo’s Bengaluru facility, the XC60 continues to be the brand’s best-selling model in India and now aims to strengthen its position in the premium midsize SUV segment.

This newsletter explores the key updates, design changes, and competitive positioning of the new XC60.

Exterior Design: Subtle Yet Refined

The facelifted XC60 retains its familiar silhouette but introduces refined styling elements. The front grille now features diagonal slats, replacing the earlier horizontal layout, giving the SUV a sleeker and more dynamic appearance. The front bumper has been reshaped with new air intakes, while the rear tail-lamps sport a smoked effect for added visual edge.

New dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels and two fresh paint options—Forest Lake and Mulberry Red—enhance the SUV’s road presence without straying from Volvo’s understated elegance.

Interior Upgrades: Luxury Meets Technology

Inside, the XC60 receives a significant tech boost. The new 11.2-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon Cockpit platform, offering faster processing, sharper graphics, and over-the-air updates. Google Built-In services, including Maps and Assistant, are integrated for seamless connectivity.

The cabin features Nappa leather upholstery, real wood inlays, and a crystal gear lever. A 12.3-inch digital driver’s display complements the infotainment suite. Comfort is elevated with electronically adjustable front seats offering heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A panoramic sunroof, air purifier, and ambient lighting round out the wellness-focused features.

Performance and Efficiency

The 2025 XC60 continues with its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Producing 250 bhp and 360 Nm of torque, the SUV delivers smooth acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. The AWD setup and 8-speed automatic transmission prioritize comfort and quiet operation, aligning with Volvo’s eco-conscious philosophy.

While not tuned for aggressive performance, the XC60 offers a balanced driving experience ideal for urban cruising and long-distance travel.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Volvo’s reputation for safety remains intact with the XC60 facelift. The SUV is equipped with:

- Adaptive cruise control

- Lane-keeping aid

- Blind-spot detection

- Cross-traffic alert with auto-braking

- 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors

- Tyre pressure monitoring system

The Level 2 ADAS suite ensures a secure and intuitive driving experience, especially in urban environments.

Competitive Positioning

The 2025 XC60 competes with the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Audi Q5. Unlike its German rivals, Volvo offers the XC60 in a single fully-loaded variant, simplifying the buying process. Its focus on comfort, safety, and Scandinavian design gives it a distinct identity in the crowded luxury SUV market.

Conclusion: A Calming Counterpoint to Performance-Driven Rivals

With the 2025 XC60 facelift, Volvo reinforces its commitment to understated luxury, advanced technology, and holistic comfort. While the mechanical setup remains unchanged, the design and feature upgrades make it a more compelling choice for buyers seeking a refined and eco-conscious alternative to traditional luxury SUVs.
