Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s much-anticipated spy thriller War 2 experienced a modest growth in box office collections on its 10th day, bringing its total domestic gross to approximately ₹214 crore. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, has underperformed relative to high expectations but stil...

Key Highlights: Slow Yet Steady Growth

After a strong opening weekend, War 2 witnessed a sharp drop in collections during the weekdays, with Monday recording a low ₹8.75 crore following Sunday’s ₹32.65 crore.

The film’s collection continued to struggle mid-week, hitting a low of ₹4 crore on its second Friday, indicating weakening momentum.

However, on the second Saturday (day 10), War 2 saw a slight recovery, collecting ₹6.48 crore, pushing its cumulative domestic gross to ₹214.73 crore.

This resurgence is considered customary for second Saturdays, as family audiences typically boost theatre footfalls over weekends.

Competitive Context and Reception

War 2’s box office battle with Rajinikanth’s Coolie continues, with Coolie holding a lead of nearly ₹27 crore domestically.

Despite the star power of Hrithik and Jr NTR, mixed critical reviews and word-of-mouth have dampened sustained enthusiasm.

Critics cited weak writing, underwhelming VFX, and a convoluted storyline as reasons for the cool reception.

The film is the sixth installment in YRF’s Spy Universe, which includes hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.

International Box Office and Overall Earnings

War 2 has earned around ₹70 crore overseas, contributing to a worldwide gross of approximately ₹314 crore in 10 days.

Industry insiders suggest that, despite robust distribution, the film may incur losses for the producers due to its high budget (estimated around ₹350 crore), inclusive of marketing and star salaries.

Comparatively, Coolie remains more profitable despite its own mixed reviews and similar box office challenges.

Film Details and Cast

War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan reprising the role of RAW agent Major Kabir Dhaliwal alongside Jr NTR making his Bollywood debut as Vikram, an undercover RAW agent tasked with bringing Kabir back from the dark side.

Kiara Advani plays the female lead caught in the crossfire of espionage and personal vendettas.

The film’s narrative revolves around an assassination plot against India’s Prime Minister by a secretive global entity called Kali, blending action and political intrigue.

Conclusion

While War 2’s day 10 box office collections hint at a customary second-weekend boost, the film struggles to regain and sustain blockbuster momentum due to mixed audience and critical reviews. Despite its star-studded cast and franchise pedigree, the spy thriller now aims to maintain steady collections as it heads into the final phase of its theatrical run.
